Announcing Dana Farber Race Singlet

I am so honored and excited to be able to wear this race singlet on Marathon Monday (April 21, 2014) for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The design features the city of Boston on either side of the singlet, meant to serve as a metaphorical hug for runners as we return to the Boston Marathon starting line on our 26.2 mile trek to Copley. I’m extremely partial to hugs, and often upon meeting new people have to remind myself that not everyone is a fan of this direct form of contact upon initial encounters. There’s just something so comforting and safe about an embrace. That heart-to-heart contact with your arms holding each other in that moment makes you feel loved. I love hugs.

The fact that Dana-Farber knew we could use this hug as we make our way down the 26.2 miles to Boston, back to the finish line, is a true testament to the incredible organization Dana-Farber is. To care for their runners in such a way as they do their patients is such a wonderful thing. It makes me so proud to run for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the love and passion they put into their work. A hug is a powerful thing, and it’s exactly what these runners and the city of Boston needed. Thank you, Dana-Farber.

Please consider hugging us and the people whose lives Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge impacts with a donation to the Claudia Barr Program, funding innovative cancer research. 100% of the proceeds goes directly to funding projects in new cancer research. Please also include the names of the person or people you are donating for, so that I can add them to my singlet and carry them on my back as I take on the 26.2 miles to Boston. http://rundfmc.org/2014/elisek
